Cameron Highlands
I had a good time with Reese and hubby. It was our first church camp! I missed 3/4 of the activities and messages but it was still good. No maid just Adrian, Reese and myself. It was super tiring... Reese became very hyper but we also saw that he learned a few new tricks. Now he can almost sit himself up when on crawling position. When on sitting position, he can dived down..no kidding.. he will dive down and back to his crawling/tummy position. He gets excited when you play peek-a-boo with him and when you cover your head with something he will gladly "look" for you and when he found you...he laughs! It's a real joy seeing him grow day by day. Oh...and the best is ...... he loves the food I prepare for him...... :) I will blog more on my new improved recipes soon...
Generally Reese behaved himself while up in Cameron Highlands. He enjoyed the attention. Everyone adores him. He is really a cute baby...haha...
Will share some pictures in my next post.

Remote Controllers and Mobile Phones

Most toys manufacturers will tell you that babies love colourful things....but.... I realised they love dull looking remote controllers and mobile phones! They just can't get enough of it. When given a choice between attractive colourful toys and controllers, they will go for the controllers... funny isn't it? Anyone can give me an explanation on this? Look at my Reese... He loves controllers and mobile phones.

My Yeye and Me

Her name is Jillian Wong. Loves me alot and probably miss spending time with me! So much so that she took half day leave to be with me! She is gentle and have loads of patience (She is known for her bad temper) when it comes to taking care of me. Yeye is not rich you know but she do shower me with expensive gifts! Sometimes she will come over for dinner and then play with me helps mom make me sleep. This photo was taken last night... we are both happy to be together! :) I love you Yeye.

Being a good mother
What does it take to be a good mother?
Well, tough question and probably endless answers but after being a hands on mother for almost 8 months, I would say endless love, loads of patience, self replenising energy, ever ready smiles, creative entertainer, a good milking machine (breast feeding), personal butler, play mate.....etc....
Scary? nope.... I am enjoying motherhood, though at times I felt I neglected my hubby dearest! Got to do something for him too you know.... :)
So besides being a mother, I have to find extra time to be a good wife too! Really not easy... I am going to hit the big 31 next month... It's certainly not an easy journey but I am proud of what I have, an adorable baby and a loving husband...of course...both can be a pain in the a** at times... :) way to go!! Thank you God for everything, I am forever greatful to you.

My new high chair

Daddy and mummy bought me a new high chair from IKEA. I like it. I can sit there and play by myself for 15-20 minutes. Not bad huh?

I am going for my first church camp this Saturday. I can't wait! It's going to be fun. Mummy and daddy are already planning all the things that they need to bring for me. I have been good. Eat my vege/fish and apple/pear sauce. Mummy is going to try a new recipe. It' s going to include beetroot! She doesn't like it but thinks it is good for me to eat it! eerr...

Some pictures of me in my new high chair. :)

Smarter by the day...

Reese is getting smarter. A couple of days ago, my mom told me that Reese knows how to look for things hidden from his view. It's a little hard to believe.

My mom demonstrated with her mobile phone. First she allowed Reese a little glimpse of the phone before she put it under a small pillow. My little boy immediately dive for the pillow and removed it and took the phone. So funny. We tried with a bigger pillow and it's fun watching him struggle to remove the bigger pillow.

Last night, I did the same thing and this time... he will actually peek at it half way removing the pillow. :)

Hubby held his hands and encouraged him to walk... he actually was able to take little steps! Can't wait to see him crawl and walk. Everynight we will let him roll on our bed before he dozes off. He will roll in every direction for about 15 to 20 minutes and then he will be asleep.

Finally....

My dearest son is eating the 'main course' I made. Yes!
After a few failed attempt to tempt his taste bud... I finally succeed!
So what does he take that is home made?

Organic Vegetables with Fish
1 medium carrot
1 big potato
1 small portion of pumpkin (about the size of a potato)
1 sweet corn (just the corn without the cob)
1 piece 2" x 2" fish fillet cube (Ma Yau)

Cut all the vegetables into small cubes but not too small. We want to retain as much vitamins and minerals as possible. Then place all of it into a plate and place the fish on top of the vegetables. Add a little bit of water and have it steam for about 20 to 30 minutes or when the vegetables are soft. Let it cool and then blend it. It's yummy.
The above can make about 4 full small little plastic bowls like the picture above. For my son, each bowl is sufficient for 3 meals. I will mix a portion of it with rice cereal and milk then feed it to him. He seems to like it. :)

If your child doesn't like cereal then mix it with cooked rice or even plain crackers. It's really nice. It's one way to get them to eat vegetables.

In my opinion, it's probably a healtier alternative to porridge. I don't understand why all asian babies must eat porridge (cooked over 3 hours...the longer the better). Where is all the nuitrient when it's cooked for so long?

As for dessert, I will make apple sauce or pear sauce for Reese. It's very easy to make. Just cut up two apples (any variety)/pears into cubes and have it steam for about 20 to 30 minutes or when it's soft. Then let it cool and blend it by adding a little bit of water. Two apples will give me about 4 half plastic bowls.

I will be experimenting with other new recipe and will let you know.

By the way, it's alright to freeze fresh baby food.

Mother's Day II
Ah... mom manage to find Yeye's camera cable and uploaded the pics... As you can see..the pink carnation I gave mummy and a picture of my family. Daddy and mummy dearest and me.

Mummy and daddy need to lose weight! :)

Being a first time mother
Deciding to start a family obviously lead me to my discovery of motherhood and the impact on myself as a working mother, being bounced into this new life phase. I realized, a few months into the pregnancy that the meaning of life was clear, even through the sleepless nights and endless demands on my heavy body, that what I was doing was beautiful and definately loving.
I am always confident with whatever I do in life until Reese came along. To my shock that it’s just not quite the same. I would have to embarked on actually talking to other moms and listening to copious amounts of unsolicited and sometimes old fashioned advice. At times i felt so helpless.
The last 7.5 months has been the best character building and self awareness journey I could take. I have kind of figured now 7.5 months later a kind of stability and peace with my own formula for being the best mother I can be. I hope I can share with you my day’s achievements or just read about what I’ve been up to, as a mother.
Last week hubby and I went for parenting discipleship class and we were taught to list out a few things we want to pass on(legacy) to our children. All this while, it only crossed our minds that we want to bring up a GOOD child. Now as we slowly ponder upon the 3 aspects; namely Socially, Emotionally and Spiritually, we begin to see how we want to shape and prepare our son to be part of this earthly world.
In conclusion, we want Reese to be God fearing, a man of his own, confident, independant, responsible and be passionate in what he does. He should enjoy life!
I suddenly realised that it's really not easy to be a good and responsible parent!

My new toy
Mummy bought me a new toy. It's a Sit-To-Stand Activity Walker by Vtech.
I like it and enjoy playing with the puppy joystick. The music is cool too. I prefer to stand and so far, I love moving the ball on the steering wheel. It comes with a rear mirror and honk too!
Oh... Gong gong sponsored part of the cost. :)

Reese my precious little one
Every morning (most mornings) he wakes up with a blurry look and then when he sees me, he will flash his toothless smile. He is such an angel. Thank you God for giving me this little precious one. He melts my heart. It's hard to believe that he was once a tiny little bean like creature in my womb. The first time I saw him with a little heart beating ever so fast and little movements he made as he grew in me, I was over come with emotions. Fascination, curiosity, fear and most of all joy. It's hard to believe that he is now seven months and two weeks old. Time really flies.
Bonding is really important. When I first met him, I have doubt whether I will love him very much, it was a stressful two months. Deprived of sleep, recovering from the stiches, coping with Carpel Tunnel Syndrome (both wrists) and endless pain as a result of sore and crack nipples. I nearly gave up breastfeeding (now don't feel like giving up breastfeeding!). It was very tough. Not easy to be a new mother BUT as he grew... like every other mother will tell you... all the pain and suffering you endure... it's worth it. AND it is very true. :)
I am lucky that I work from home and I get to be close to my son. Whenever I am free, I will spend time with him. I love to feed him, bath him and play with him. It's so wonderful to see him learn new skills everyday plus his cheeky looks and loving smiles really can kill! :)
It's really funny, whenever hubby and I go shopping anything that we purchase for Reese... the price tag is the last thing we look at! Not very rational thinking parents huh? wait till you have a kid and you will know what I mean :)
I am already thinking about his First birthday. I am thinking of a picnic birthday party filled with balloons and... sssshhhh....
Reese, when you are old enough to read this post I want you to know that I love you very very much. :)

Mother's Day
Yesterday I gave mummy a pink carnation (courtesy of Yeye). It's my first gift to her. :) I am so proud of it. Hehe... pictures on the way... Yeye.. please upload and send it to mummy.
Mummy and daddy got me a cheap ball from Careffour. I was laughing when koko Jordan and Reuel play with the ball on Saturday. So now I have a ball of my own! I am enjoying it but I am not allowed to lick it! Hehe...cause it's not safe... Mummy is going to get me another one.. one that I can lick to my heart's content...
I love mummy and daddy soooooo much.

'tim sum' morning
Went to have 'tim sum' with mummy and daddy dearest and I behaved quite well... sat on the baby chair and play with my toys! It is a good start... later in the evening we are going to Aunty Selvi's house for parenting discipleship class. Tomorrow is mother's day and I am going to go Popo's house. Mummy told me we are going to celebrate Yeye and Yepo's birthday and mother's day with popo and of course mummy. Four celebration... We are going to have steamboat. It's going to be fun.
Yesterday I impressed everyone with improvement to my crawling practise. I was able to straighten both my hands and legs in a crawling position... I guess in another week or two I should be able to crawl! Can't wait to be mobile! Yahoo...
Mummy is going to try chicken porridge today... hehe... hope I don't disappoint her.

Education
Mummy is concerned about my future education. She is looking at alternatives besides national schools. Honestly, she doesn't have faith in them. She will blog about some of the alternatives here to share with other mummies who are thinking about other options.

Mummy will also share about her experience in teaching children language skills and hopefully other children will benefit from it as well. Mummy has a target for me! She wants me reading by age 3 without the pressure of course. I must say, mummy is very good with kids! :)

Mummy wants this to be an online diary of my life as well as a blog filled with information to share with other first time mothers and pro mothers in bringing up their children!

Oh, by the way... I was good last night, only got up twice! yes....

Changes Part II

Well, well, well..... My first experience with the zapp stroller... SCARED!! I was holding on to the sides and looking blur/scared when daddy push me around the garden! Mummy and daddy had fun laughing at me. Gggrrr.....

BUT... yesterday I sat on it again in the morning and later another round of garden walking with Kong kong... I am more relaxed and confident.... hehehe....

These days I am eating more solid as well as more milk. But I am becoming a fussy eater. Only selected food I will take. Just like a king. Mummy is going to try cooking porridge for me this weekend. This time chicken porridge... I wonder whether I am going to eat.... sometimes mummy will call me "sui jai"... go figure it out... :)

Another problem... I refuse to sleep properly... mummy tried feeding me more milk before my bedtime.. it's not working, I still get up a few times throughout the night. Poor mummy...oh..daddy too.

Changes
Yesterday I discovered moving backwards... not exactly crawling...but somehow I can move backwards with my hands and legs and I can also move 360% on my tummy. :)
Today, the whole day I refuse to sit in my car seat(semi recline). I keep wanting to get up. Next, daddy and mummy went to The Curve to have lunch and for the first time, they a baby chair was offered to me. Daddy and mummy never even thought of it! Guess what? I can sit pretty well in it. They are delighted even thou it's only for a short while.... hehe..
Then when we reached home, after daddy had his nap, he and mummy lowered my "papan" in the baby cot so that I cannot 'kena' accident. After that they fix my zapp and now it's a stroller! I can sit up instead of being in my car seat.
Oh, one more change, mummy is going to feed me supper before my bedtime and hopefully I will sleep better. Aunty Carmen suggested another feeding because she thinks I might be hungry and thus the waking up (3 to 4 times) every night.
Will tell you what happen tomorrow. Oh... forgot, today Koko Jordan 'sayang' me and gave me 2 kisses.... hehe..

My Parents

I haven't really introduce my parents right? Let me tell you a little bit about them. :)

My daddy and mummy met online. Yes! that was more than 11 years ago... They met on an American chatsite. They chatted over a year before they met in real life. They fell in love. They got married on 24th April 2004. It was a beautiful wedding. Then in late January 2006, I was conceived. Wonderful isn't it? Mummy was not aware of it and was happily jumping up and down at the Delirious first concert in Malaysia!

My mummy's name is Florence. She is in the education line. She is pretty in my eyes... I love her very much. She is funny, sociable, loving and can be very serious too.

As for my daddy, his name is Adrian. He is in grahpic design line. He is handsome and I love him just as much. He is funny, creative, loving and passionate in his music.

They are both in their 30's and look younger than their age! hehe.. Here is a picture of them.

I love to suck my thumb.
I love grabbing both my feet and try sucking my toes! Yummy...
I love to exercise my legs; some kind of assisted jumping.
I love standing....
For some reason... I have abundance of energy...not sure where it is coming from but daddy just wish I have a pack of half charged batteries!

Some of my cheeky moments

Got a Professional hair cut

Yesterday mummy took me to a hair salon and I had my first professional hair cut. It was RM12.00. I behaved quite well, thou I did cried a little. Kakak held me while mummy tried to distract me with toys. After about 10 minutes, the Cheh cheh said done!

So do you think I look better now? Write a comment.....
