Mid Autumn Festival

Ah! My first Mid Autumn Festival celebration. We had steamboat at popo's house together with two Yi Po and Ye ye. It was fun for me. After the makan, we went downstairs to play lantern and I was given a chance to roam around the swimming pool area and also to 'kepoh' with other koko and jeje. I was having so much fun that I didn't even felt sleepy even thou it was past my bedtime. We finally left popo's place at about 9.40pm and I only went to bed at about 10 plus. Then.... check out the next post!

A year almost gone...

My little one is almost one year old. How time has passed. He is becoming more independent and has a mind of his own. I am losing the little baby who used to want mama to carry and always feeling contented just being in mama's arms.

I am beginning to worry that soon he will be Mr. Independent and I won't get to hug and kiss him whenever I want. In other words... he will no longer be the little baby he once was. I am beginning to miss those early months of motherhood... I am sure you know what I mean! Don't get me wrong, I still get to give hugs and kisses..but only when my little Mr. Independent wants it.

He has grown so much and every now and then I will wonder what he would be like when he grows up. Will he be a caring son? Will he be smart and successful in his life? Will he bring home a lovely girl?... I know...It's way way too early to think about these things... haha.... but hey... my one year with Reese now feels like yesterday! I love staring at him when he is asleep. He is such a beautiful child. Sometimes he looks so grown up.

Lately, he is beginning to show more awareness to his surroundings. He is demanding things, trying to tell you what he wants physically, imitating us, learning new tricks and even understand some of the things we said to him! He is full of surprises! I love every moment of it except when he was sick. Now that episode two weeks ago really broke my heart.

Mmmm... can't wait till next Sunday. Hubby and I are planning a birthday party for him. We are inviting about 25 people to our humble home. Gosh... not sure how everyone is going to fit into our house...hehe...

I am busy planning the menu. I want every guest that comes to enjoy some good food and fellowship with each other.Right now, my menu is as follows:

1. Curry chicken
2. Asam pedas ikan pari
3. Yong tau fu
4. Yam cake
5. Mix vegetables and prawns
6. Bread and rice
7. Cream sauce pasta with bacon
8. Parmesan cheese mash potatoes
9. Birthday cake (most probably going for classic cheese- Secret Recipe)

What do you think? :) Hopefully I can cook everything in time! I think I need my sister to come over to help... hehe.. Jill... make yourself free coming Sunday.

We also bought some party decorations and some toys for the party packs last night from Toys' R us. I am so excited.

Reese and his musical instruments

Sometime back we bought Reese a set of toy musical instruments. He didn't show much interest in them but lately.... he started to play the tambourine (just like we do), shaking the shakers, banging the cymbals and hitting the drum with a drumstick. The only thing he can't do it like we do is blowing the trumpet! He still doesn't know how to blow but he has been trying to do so... most of the time his saliva will give the wood flooring a nice shine. Hehehe...

Check out the videos.

Busy playing the cymbals

A sign of normalcy

Phew! Yesterday was really a sign of relief! Reese was back to normal, a happy baby, eating well and best of all his *poo poo* was smelly and had a nice green mash consistency. Ahhhh......

Let's see how he fairs today. :)

Another bad day

After I went back to my mom's place in the afternoon, things were not so good. Reese refused to sleep and was whining and restless. After an hour or so of trying to get him to sleep, I decided to bath him. Then I discovered the horror! His butt's cheeks and surrounding area were all red and swollen. Nappy rash!!!! Gosh... no wonder he was crying ans whining so much. He was in pain!!

Apparently his loose stool has irritated the sensitive skin around the nappy area. Trying to clean that area hurts him so much. He cried so loudly and he was shaking. My poor baby. It breaks my heart every time I see him hurt.

As a mother, I felt terrible, felt that I did not do a good job of taking care of my son but I cannot be with him 24 hours a day! I have to work and it's hard to depend on your maid to care for your child with 100% dedication.

Anyway, last night we took him to another specialist and upon check up, found that one side of his ear is still red, since he got a bad experience with medication, doc advise not to put him on any medication and hope that his ear infection will clear up on its own. As long as he doesn't develop a fever, he should be fine.

Doc said to put him on lactose free milk for a week and to take probiotics to settle his bowel. Hope all these will make Reese better and be the happy baby again.

He had never cried so much in his entire 11 + months of age!! But luckily...hehee... his cries still lasted less than 10 minutes! :)

Oh, last night he slept well too. No waking up at all. I think after 3 restless nights, he has finally got a good sleep.

My little Reese.

Not fun to be sick

For the first time, Reese felt sick. He had fever for 2 days (on and off). We took him to his Paediatrician and was told that he got a little ear and throat infection. He was put on antibiotics and fever syrup. He was told to take 5ml (antibiotics) , twice a day for 5 days. Fever syrup whenever there is a fever.

The nightmare began. Being a new mother, giving him medication proved to be super challenging! First time, I force fed him. He choked and vomited. I was so heart broken, cause he was choking very badly and crying at the same time. My fault, cause I was a little impatient and didn't know the right technique. Poor boy!The next day, introduction to antibiotics... tried to spoon feed him, failed and he vomited. Then tried to mix it in his food. He cried and didn't want to eat because he immediately tasted the difference. Poor boy, he refuse to take anything after that (trauma). The whole day, only had 3 oz of milk and a bit of cereal and vege/fish.

Then on Saturday, fed him medication successfully. It took 3 adults to do that. Maid carried and restrained him while I fed him the medication. Then immediately hubby blew some bubbles to stop him from crying and in a way to distract him. It worked! So Saturday was good. He played as usual and slept alot. Sunday morning was good too but later in the day, he developed a rash on his body! We got scared and took him to a doctor. The doctor was... well.. not much of a help but at least we knew it was not measles. Phew.....

This morning, the rash was mostly gone. I just called Dr. Yong and still waiting for him to call me back regarding the continuation of the medication. :) I really don't feel like giving him the antibiotics... he seems to be well, but then again, I am no doctor.

He is still a little whiny and very manja....

Down with fever for the first time

I got fever yesterday. After some fun at the garden with my grandaunt, came back all sweaty and hot. After a clean up, I took a nap. When I woke up, mom felt my body and it was hot. After we reached home, daddy and mummy checked my temperature and it was 38.3 celsious. They took me to the doc and my temperature dropped to 37.6 celsious which was borderline. Got some medication and went home to sleep. Poor daddy and mummy only got to eat their dinner at 9.30pm. My temperature fluctuated thoughout the night and this morning I am ok. :)
My first fever was not that bad at all, didn't really fuss just a little down and batteries were low. Haha.. I think I have recovered.

Proper shoes

Now that I can walk, mom and dad took me to buy a pair of proper shoes. No more pre-walker shoes. They decided to buy me a pair of sandals. Since I do not have important functions to go to it's much more comfortable for me. Check out my shoes. I will be wearing it to church tomorrow.
