New Drawing on a 9x5 feet Wall
Recently we gave Reese a drawing wall in our new home. The boy was over the moon and has since been drawing and experimenting. He drew this a few weeks ago. Total hours taken to complete this 9x5 ft wall was 2 hours. This is quite a feat for a 7 year old child!

Who Will Become a 'Super' Artist, The Psychologist
Reese's work was mentioned in an article entitled Who Will become a 'Super' Artist published in The Psychologist, a publication of The British Psychological Society. An interesting read for those with artistic children.

Reese in the News
Below is the link to the online version:
Six-year-old Reese Kam holds solo exhibition to promote his artwork
On the 1st Day of Reese's Exhibition
It is more than what we expected from our boy. He was happy, excited and proud of his very 1st exhibition. He was like a perfect host going around talking to shoppers and asking them whether they like his work. He gladly explain his art and then very politely asked everyone to sign his guestbook and be his FAN.
It's my very own exhibition!

All Set for the Exhibition!
I took Reese over to Bangsar Village 1 to check out the preparation for his exhibition. Oh my, Reese was sooooo excited. He was running around the whole area smiling and laughing. His dream of sharing his work with other children is finally happening. We hope through his work, other children will be inspired to draw and dream!
It was really amusing watching him going around telling others that he is the artist that drew the pictures on exhibit and when some kids started looking at his art... he asked me whether he has got new fans! :)
Dream Comes True.... 1st Solo Exhibition
Hello everyone,
I have so much to update on Reese and yet I have no time to do so. Hopefully I will soon.... :)
Good news, Reese is finally going to have his very 1st solo exhibition and he will be the youngest artist to do so in Malaysia.
Do come and support Reese and don't forget to sign his guest book and write a comment or message to him.
There will be 5 lego structures built by Reese and 22 pieces of his art on display. We also donated 2 pieces of Reese's original work for silent auction. All proceeds will go to Bangsar Village Kids' for Kids' Charity Fund. This is your only chance to get an original art work by Reese.
Venue: Bangsar Village 1 (Concourse)
Date: 24th May - 2nd June
Time: 10am - 10pm
Pre Exhibition
Reese made this huge poster asking visitors to sign his guest book and be his fan! :)
Reese was interviewed on Capital fm on Monday but we only managed a 'Hello' from him. The rest of the interview was done by me.
Reese was super excited seeing his own art work and photo on the poster at Bangsar Village

Something Artsy....
Drawings by Reese are almost exclusively posted on his FaceBook page. So for those who do not follow him on FaceBook....here are 2 drawings Reese did in January....

A few days later, he drew another mosque
In December, Reese was featured in MAS's Inflight magazine Going Places. So proud of my baby!

Our Adventure in a Week
December is a fun month. I have almost no work and able to take Reese to different places for different activities. Below are some of the activities and places we visited recently.
Kidzania (RM55-Child, RM35- Adult: Max playtime 5 hours)
Muzium & Galeri Bank Negara (Free)
Planetarium (Show RM6-Adult, RM4-Child and free entry with show ticket)
Science Centre (Free for members, public is RM5-Adult and RM3-Child above 7 I think)
Since we have been zipping in and out of KL town, Reese had a chance to look closely at some of the old Malaysian architecture. He drew this after he saw the Abdul Samad Building in town.
Kidzania (RM55-Child, RM35- Adult: Max playtime 5 hours)
Finally after months of its opening, together with some friends we went to Kidzania. It was madness because it is the school holiday season. Reese only managed to do 4 jobs. He had a blast and I paid Rm50 for 3 nice photos of him. We spent 5 hours in there and yet it was not enough. We will be going again soon in January when school reopens. It should be less crowded.
Muzium & Galeri Bank Negara (Free)
We visited the Children's Gallery which was quite fun. They have some well thought out activities for children. One of Reese's favourite was printing money! Then we went to another gallery and saw a vault filled with real gold bars and stacks of money. Not sure how many millions in there. In order to view the inside of the vault, you have to key in a passcode. The date when Malaya formed Bank Negara I think(1959).There are 6 galleries in all but only 5 are open to public at the moment.

Planetarium (Show RM6-Adult, RM4-Child and free entry with show ticket)
After visiting the galleries in Bank Negara, we drove to the Planetarium to catch 2 shows. The Solar Storm and Journey to the Star. Very cheap. Rm6 for Adult and RM4 for Child per show. Each show is only 25+ minutes and they are projected on a dome shaped screen. Really cool. In between the show Reese happily played at the antigravity booth with other kids.

Waiting for the show to start
One of our usual hang out. Spent sometime playing and then to the resource centre. We also went to the Star Trek exhibition. For RM20 per adult and RM10 per child.... it's not worth the money. We are no Star Trek fans by the way. :)

A Productive Day for Reese
Reese's latest art. Untitled piece of an ancient city in China with a unfinished structure (left) reaching up to heaven. Lots of details in it.
Reese also 'invented' a time machine. Here he explained his creation. :)
Reese is also into chemistry. He is currently interested in the different elements in the periodic table as well as atoms and molecular structures. Self study.
Something funny to share:
Yesterday at Snowflakes, Midvalley
Reese: I am tired.
Daddy: Why?
Reese: Because we are about to have dessert which is high in glycemic index!
Daddy: What is glycemic index? (The daddy didn't know what it was)
Reese: Hehehehee (Cheeky boy refused to tell his father!)
Honestly, if I didn't 'study' with him, I wouldn't know what glycemic index is! :) This kind of conversation is pretty comment in our household. Reese is constantly telling us things we have no idea about. Very often we have to search the net to find out what he was talking about and we do learn a lot from Reese.

Time to rest...
It's the end of the year! I finally have a break from work. December is my favourite month of the year because I almost have no WORK! I haven't been writing much because I was too busy running around dealing with Reese's art, the selling of our condo and also buying of a new home for ourselves and not to forget work.
Since The Star published an article about Reese's art, we have had quite an eventful time with Reese's art being on display at the recent Gifted Education at the Australian International School and also Children for Child Protection Event at KL Convention Centre. As Reese's mom, I had a chance to be on 2 radio programs and even on the panel at the gifted conference to give my views raising a gifted child.
All the running around juggling everything was indeed tiring. I want my peaceful life back. Frankly, didn't like the attention but for Reese's sick, I will have to continue on. Next year will be an exciting year for us. Reese will have his first solo exhibition soon... I am so excited about this and we will donate two pieces of Reese's work for charity auction to help the needy. We will also be renovating and moving to our new home, so can't wait to start hunting for renovation stuff and decorating it... what's more exciting is that we will finally for a small garden! I want to start a small vegetable patch and grow our own herbs... and perhaps some vegetables...
For now, I just want some rest from all the hustle and bustle, meet up with a few mummies who wanted to know more about homeschooling and catch up on Reese's homeschooling work.
We are going to Singapore this Saturday! Haven't been there for a few years. Looking forward to it and this time we are going to utilise our time there to the max! Ah.... can't wait for the break...
