A Productive Day for Reese

Reese: I am tired.
Daddy: Why?
Reese: Because we are about to have dessert which is high in glycemic index!
Daddy: What is glycemic index? (The daddy didn't know what it was)
Reese: Hehehehee (Cheeky boy refused to tell his father!)

Honestly, if I didn't 'study' with him, I wouldn't know what glycemic index is! :) This kind of conversation is pretty comment in our household. Reese is constantly telling us things we have no idea about. Very often we have to search the net to find out what he was talking about and we do learn a lot from Reese.

Reese in Action...

Moments like this is magic! We've never seen Reese draw a castle with this much detail. Have a look...all the random strokes, just like how a real castle should be. Except that this one was cooked up in his dreams.

For the past month or so, Reese hadn't really drawn anything in detail. Mostly sketches and scribbles. This came as a darn good surprise. :) The most detailed castle ever.

School of Hard Knocks

Today we went to the Royal Selangor Pewter factory. It was a fun field trip for us. First thing in the morning with our GPS, we braved the traffic and traveled to Segambut area. Everything went smoothly until a mere 2km from destination we got lost! Yeah, even with a GPS. Sometimes it is not reliable and some how it directed us to the highway and went one big round and had to go through Jalan Tun Razak (traffic was really heavy). It took us an hour to reach the place. :)

We were honored to have the founder's granddaughter to personally take us on the tour! After the tour, the kids went to the School of Hard Knocks. Each participant is given a flat piece of pewter and appropriate tools to make a pewter bowl. The kids really had fun knocking! We paid RM68 for Whack and Snack and the tour is free of charge.

After all the hard work, the kids had lunch at the cafe (included in the package). They each had two croissants with egg mayo and tuna fillings and a glass of apple cranberry juice. After lunch was play time! Wished I was not sick. This whole week I am sick and yet we had three field trips!

Obsessed with Life After People - The Great Collapses!

One fine day (about 2 weeks ago) my dear son was browsing the internet and he found a youtube video of buildings collapsing! It was a program by History Channel, Life after people - The great collapses.

My son is obsessed with these videos! Day and night he will watch them on the computer or iPad. He will show it to everyone who pays attention to him.

Because of these videos, he now knows a dozen more famous landmarks and structures like Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai, Willis Tower (Sears Tower), Macau Tower, Ambassador Bridge and many more. He will google up these buildings and look at the images. Honestly when he mentioned some of the structures, I have not heard of them before!

An Impromptu Interview with My Dear Son

Here my son talks about his future. He talks about being a teacher and what he is going to teach the children and the location of his school. He also talks about his future wife and son, they taking care of us when we are old, buying a house in Paris near The Champs Elysees and he also mentioned The Arch De Triomphe. Its so funny hearing my son pronouncing French words.

Reese can In-line skate!

Yesterday was a great day because Reese could skate! We went to BSC in Bangsar for lunch with 2 friends and their kids and then the kids went skating. This was Reese's second time skating. The first time was last week and he was struggling to stand and balance. Bump his butt a few times. At the end of that session, he was able to stand without help.

Yesterday, after a few falls he was able to skate unaided. I was so proud of him. He even asked me to go outside the ring and watch him skate! He didn't want my help. :)

Reese had home-made Mac and Cheese followed by free ice-cream with toppings at Stuff your Face (a very child friendly restaurant).

It was a fun outing and finally Reese can do a sport? Next up should be the bicycle! When my friends first told me that their kids taught themselves to stake after 2 times at the ring I was skeptical but seeing their kids skating like pro, I have to believe them. Reese also did it, so it is true! What I like about this place is that there are at least 2 guys to watch over the kids and they even help the kids to skate. So paying RM22(weekdays) to skate in the ring is not too bad. Don't need to pay for lessons. I heard skating lessons are quite expensive! There is one at Kiara Park conducted by Stakeline.

Protective gear is important. Reese was wearing pads for knees, elbows and palms but no helmet. He hit his head yesterday. I need to get him a helmet!! It can be quite rough in the ring, some of the kids couldn't stop in time and bump into each other constantly or falls and the impact was very strong.

Did I tell you that Reese went for a Taekwondo trial class? He just couldn't stand still and listen to instructions so can't take lessons. *sigh* Well, at least he can stake. Plan to take him staking every Wednesday and hopefully he will make some new friends too!

Reese is in building mode. He builds elaborate structures like St. Basil Cathedral, Mickey Mouse Castle, New York City, St Petersburg Winter Palace, United Nation building... (He is into Little Einstein). Along the way, he will tell us what was going on and bla...bla...bla... and his greatest joy is when a disaster strikes! Hence the destruction. Total satisfaction for him. Crazy boy!

School Party and a Short Performance

Singing bahasa songs but you can see he only did the actions and not much singing. He doesn't know Bahasa. The last part is one of the funniest part. See my son moves alot more than the rest and one of the loudest and mostly out of tune.... :)

We had a really great time at the school party with good food and alot of fun. Looking forward to next year's party!

Reese is cooking up a storm!

Yesterday I had a day off to rest my chest muscles. In the evening, as I was doing some ironing... Reese started to 'cook'. At first it was just pork noodles then he got creative and started to cook more food!...

Our conversation:

Reese: Mummy, this pork noodles is for you.
Mummy: Oh... thank you.
Reeese: (Busy scooping more legos into containers..) You(I) wanna cook bah kut teh mummy!
Mummy: Oh.. yummy...
Reese: Must add salt, tomato sauce....

All these cooking in 1 hour of playtime....hahahah... I really hope my son will grow up being able to cook! :)

Hair cut done right!

For the past few months, we managed to get Reese to have a hair cut by a professional. It wasn't easy but each time was an improvement! Last weekend, we took him to have his hair cut again and I think we have found the perfect solution to get him to sit still and have his hair cut properly. We gave him the Ipod! He was so engrossed with the game that he didn't bother the hair stylist at all (Usually will move around and refuse to let the stylist use the electric shaver!). He sat there and in less than 15 minutes, all done. :)

Favourite Video 2009

I love this video showing Reese eating his rice on his own. It's a big achievement for him being able to feed himself with very very little practice since the maid left. I love watching him eat because it will really wet your appetite and make you hungry!

Lately Reese loves to dance! He can dance for more than an hour non-stop! It's like going to the gym... so sweaty and he has to take 2 showers at least in a day! I am happy because he gets extra exercises... hehehe.. since he is still consider over weight. :)
