Happy 7th Birthday Reese!

My dear child is 7 years old today. He is a blessing to us all. He is indeed a passionate gift from God. 15+ hours in labour and this boy came into the world with a cry. Seven years later he is one bubbly, talkative, hyper active, humorous, curious and precocious boy.  Mummy and daddy are proud to be your parents. We love you so much Reese. Happy birthday.

We celebrated Reese's birthday a day earlier with both sets of grandparents and maternal grand aunt. We had dinner at Dave's and we bought a nice ice-cream cake for the boy. :)

Reese said... bless the one who cuts the cake and curse the one who eats it! He is one cheeky boy!

He had a great time with everyone. He had his first treasure hunt with simple clues to hunt for his presents. After the treasure hunt, he wanted more. Reese got a bicycle, ant artist (To observe ants' tunnelling) and microscope from me and hubby, a nice scooter from his aunt and uncle and ang pows from both maternal and paternal grandparents.

My boy is 5. Five wonderful years with this amazing child. I am so blessed. :)

4th Birthday Celebration

Finally we celebrated Reese's birthday on 30th September. It was a success! Everything went well except that Reese was a little sad and whinny because he had to wait till 11am for his party at school. He had a good time at his party and was super hyper. All the kids had a good time too.

Early Birthday Celebration

On 20th September we had an early birthday celebration for Reese with family. Prior to this, Reese had been telling us this (In his exact words):

Reese: Soon, Reese 3 years old, mummy and daddy buy your (me) birthday cake with 3 big candles, balloons, party hats for Reese to wear, presents!

My boy sure knows what he want thanks to the cartoons he saw on birthdays! It was a simple celebration. We got him 3 helium balloons (RM6.40 each! crazy!), an ice cream cake and a clown cone from BR and we also got him 3 presents.

I wanted to cook chicken rice for the dinner but because it was the 1st day of Raya, almost everything was closed except a miserable green grocer and the pork section of the market! So I ended up cooking pork and vegetable dishes only but it was good. We had steam pork with salted fish, roast pork with vegetables, another vegetable dish, lotus soup cooked in pork bones and braised pork with eggs.... crazy huh? everything pork! :)

Reese was super excited on that day even though he was down with a bad runny nose. First he had a blast playing with the balloons and then started asking for birthday cake and presents! Gave him his party hat and he happily wore it. I tell you, he never like to wear anything on his head for longer than 2 minutes but he wore the party hat for more than 30 minutes that day. When it was time to sing the birthday song, he happily sat on the chair and eying the cake! Can't wait to blow the candles. After everything was over, he used his finger to eat the ice-cream... he was unstoppable! It was really fun watching him licking the ice cream cake. It was really finger licking good. Everyone was laughing but that didn't seems to bother him. :)

Opening the presents was also a first time experience for Reese. Well, at least first time opening presents on his own. Last two years he was too young to do that. Hehehe..

He got a fishing game, whack a mole game, binoculars a pirate ship and ang pows. He really had a good time playing his new toys and imagine having 4 grand parents fishing with him!

Thank you Ye ye, Ye Poh and Gong gong(s), Ama, Poh Poh for coming!

See how he is more interested in the cake than anything else?

2nd Birthday Celebration

Yesterday (Sunday) we had a simple birthday celebration for Reese in advance. Reese will be two on 30th September. Mmmm.. so fast and he is a big boy now. We had a good time and of course Reese was the centre of attention. He was so excited and happy when my parents, sister and two aunties came for dinner.

He had fun playing with them while daddy took some pictures and I was busy preparing dinner. I cooked curry pork ribs, fried balacan kangkung, fried curried prawns, a pot of soup(sai yong choi) and a mince meat taufu. My mum bought half a steamed chicken and some fried vegetables.

We all had a satisfying meal. Even Reese was happily sitting next to his Gong gong and my sister fed him some soup. Throughout the meal, he was quite happy to just sit with us and 'chit chat' with us. :)

After dinner, more playing with his grandaunties and aunt and later we took out his birthday jelly cakes. My sister bought a little bear jelly cake and early in the day we bought two small jelly cake with the face of Pooh bear and Mickey Mouse.

Reese was excited to see the candles and can't stop saying candle and wanted to touch the flame! He was amused when we sang him a birthday song. It was interesting to know that he actually ate some of the jelly cake! I think his taste bud is changing, he does reject sweet drinks as often and willing to try new sweet and salty food too. But still choosy when it comes to actually consuming his meals.

It was a good evening for all of us. Will have a special threesome do on his actual birthday...heheh...
